This Moshio Seared Salmon recipe uses FŪMI Moshio Sea Salt to highlight the natural flavors of the salmon and is paired with a refreshing citrus herb salad to balance the dish.

Ingredients:

For the Salmon:

  • 4 salmon fillets (skin-on)
  • 1-2 teaspoons FŪMI Moshio Sea Salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

For the Citrus Herb Salad:

  • 2 oranges, peeled and segmented
  • 1 grapefruit, peeled and segmented
  • 2 cups mixed herbs (mint, basil, cilantro, parsley), roughly chopped
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice
  • Pinch of FŪMI Moshio Sea Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Method:

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry using paper towels. Sprinkle the skin side with a pinch of the FŪMI Moshio Sea Salt and black pepper.
  2. Seared Salmon: In a non-stick skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the salmon fillets skin-side down. Cook for about 4-5 minutes without moving, allowing the skin to get crispy. Flip and cook the other side for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the salmon is cooked to your preferred doneness. Once cooked, sprinkle the top with a pinch more of FŪMI Moshio Sea Salt.
  3. Prepare the Citrus Herb Salad: In a mixing bowl, combine the orange and grapefruit segments with the chopped herbs. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, honey, lemon/lime juice, FŪMI Moshio Sea Salt, and black pepper. Pour this dressing over the citrus and herbs and gently toss to combine.
  4. Serve: Plate the seared salmon fillets and spoon a generous portion of the citrus herb salad alongside each fillet.
